The Scottish "team" keep up to date with new government initiatives and link in with other childcare organistaions to ensure toy libraries are recognised as a vital service to parents/carers and families within their communities. The Association now has a true voice in Scotland and is informed of particular Scottish issues, reflect its differing terminology and education systems in our publications, web site and our magazine 'Play Matters'.
Toy Libraries in Scotland There are around 120 Toy Libraries spread across most of the 32 Local Authorities in Scotland. We have a wonderfully diverse range of projects working with over 10,000 families. The majority of toy libraries are volunteer run although more and more voluntary and statutory agencies are beginning to offer a toy lending service as part of their provision. The Scottish Development Committee The Scottish Development Committee consists of a group of people with an interest in play and development, who support the work of NATLL throughout Scotland. Members come from both the voluntary and statutory sector, and many are involved in local toy libraries. They ensure that grass roots issues are raised and addressed at Scottish and UK level. Members of the group organise Scottish conferences and help publicise the work of toy and leisure libraries. They also represent NATLL at various events displaying our publications and networking with like-minded parties from all over Scotland. If you are interested in joining the committee please telephone 0131 664 2746 or you can send a note to Lesley Fox, our Director in Scotland by clicking here.
